2006 Membership Campaign will kick off at the Power Lunch March 9

The Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce 2006 Membership Campaign will begin at the Chamber Power Lunch in the South Hall of the Columbus Convention and Trade Center March 9 at noon. More than 350 people are expected to attend. If you were at last year's campaign kick-off, you probably remember all of the enthusiasm that was created.

You will not want to miss this year's kick-off event! Instead of a stage, a boxing ring will be set up. The challenger, Chamber Chair-Elect Stella Shulman, will attempt to "counterpunch" the $101,000 record set last year by Chamber Chair Phil Tomlinson's campaign team.

There are more than 130 volunteers lined up to challenge the record during this campaign which will run through May 11.

The Power Lunch is sponsored by Enterprise Rent-A-Car and the media sponsor is Magic 98.3.

So get your reservations in now by emailing Crystal Limbaugh at climbaugh@columbusgachamber.com or calling 706-327-1566. The cost is $9 members and $15 non-members.

Jail & Bail set for Peachtree Mall March 14, 15

Since Crime Stoppers' inception:
22, 001 calls to the hotline
1, 372 persons arrested
3, 313 felony charges
1, 397 misdemeanor charges
$1,223, 949 in stolen property recovered
$1,679, 574 in drugs seized
961  callers paid
$208, 660 in total rewards paid out
Jail & Bail is a great time to have a little fun with your friends by having them arrested for a bad joke, for the time they called in sick to work and you caught them at the mall, a missed date or didn't RSVP to your party and showed up anyway. Well, here's your chance to have them properly punished! Each person arrested raises money to pay their "bail." All the money raised from the event goes to Crime Stoppers which pays rewards to put criminals behind bars.

In 2005, Crime Stoppers callers provided Columbus, Fort Benning and Phenix City police departments with information that led to 37 arrests with a total of 144 felony and misdemeanor charges. Since Crime Stoppers' inception, there have been 21,944 calls resulting in 1,369 arrests, 3,307 felony charges, 1,397 misdemeanor charges and $207,760 paid out in reward money, also resulting in over $2.8 million in recovered property and seized drugs.

Crime Stoppers is a non-profit (501C-3) program that impacts our community by offering rewards to anonymous informants for information leading to arrests or convictions for business and community crimes.

We are now accepting the names of fugitives that are "on the loose," so have a friend or co-worker arrested. Sponsorships are also available. To set-up an arrest click here for the arrest form or contact Jennifer Majors at jmajors@columbusgachamber.com or 706-327-1566, ext 44.
