| Meet Ann Hart |
|
A relative newcomer, Ann Hart has been an Ambassador for
the Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce for two years. Most
Chamber members would not know that she likes to travel, is an avid read
and enjoys going to the movies. Of course, she loves spending time with
her three grandchildren.
Hart is also involved in the Golden K. Kiwanis, the
Business and Professional Women's Group and the Retired Teacher
Association. She also volunteers at the RiverCenter for the Performing
Arts.
According to Hart, "The Chamber Eye Opener
Breakfasts are my favorite events to work. I really like greeting and
meeting the large number of people who attend. Then, I enjoy the
camaraderie with the other Ambassadors when we have breakfast."
The chamber appreciates and relies on the great
volunteer services provided by the Ambassadors, as well as the numerous
chamber committee members. For more information about the Ambassadors,
please contact Crystal Limbaugh at climbaugh@columbusgahchamber.com

Special guests
attended golf tournament
 |
| The annual
Membership Golf Outing at Maple Ridge Golf Course
was a success. The morning flight of players enjoyed
the sunshine and the afternoon started off with
sunshine before being interrupted with a
thunderstorm. But like all true golfers, as the
storm passed they went back out to complete 15 of
the 18 holes. This year’s tournament was sponsored
by Hughston Orthopedic Hospital. |
The Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of
Commerce held its annual Membership Golf Tournament May 20
at Maple Ridge Golf Club. The tournament was sponsored by
Hughston Orthopedic Hospital. Several businesses also were
sponsors of tees.
An added attraction to this year's
tournament was the participation of two Atlanta Falcons
football players and a member of their broadcast team.
Number eight, quarterback, Matt Schaub and number 39,
fullback, Carey Davis along with Mitch Evans the Falcon's
pre- and post-game programming host, played alongside
local business teams.
There was also another special guest,
Brian Nash with the Pinnacle Posse, who promoted Pinnacle
golf balls and their Exceptional Driver Contest. He was
located at hole 18 the entire day. Nash is a champion long
ball hitter. For each foursome, he hit one to four balls
from the tee. From his shots the long ball he thought was
his best hit was used by the foursome.
Holding on to their title from last year
of overall gross winner was Alexander Electric. The team
captain was Jay Alexander and the rest of the team was
made up by Chris Jones, Kevin Ledbetter and Tripp
Blankenship. The overall net winner was Sprint which was
led by Mike Penn. The other members of Sprint's team
included John Byrne, Trip Layfield and Brad Renfro.
According to many players, this
tournament is the best tournament to play in. This year
proved no different, players still had a great time in
spite of the afternoon rain. If you would like to be a tee
sponsor or play next year, please contact bgordon@columbusgachamber.com.

Nearly 100 people went on the trip last year
to San Antonio, Texas. These annual trips have produced many new
projects and programs for the Columbus Region. A short list of
projects include the Valley Partnership regional economic
development, the recently opened Information Technology
Innovation Center in the Cunningham Conference Center, the
RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, the Environmental Court and
an entertainment district, just to name a few.
Why are these trips so important? Nearly 100

early Wednesday morning and return mid-afternoon on Friday after
spending about 10 hours a day learning about other cities'
trials and triumphs. Like no other event, the Inter City
Leadership Conference will help inspire you and help to shape
the future vision of our Region. In addition, long term
networking contacts are created among the participants. Overall,
the event provides both personal and professional growth.
Another great feature of the trip is that the
fee includes all the conference amenities including charter air
transportation, hotel room, all meals, tips and transportation
needs from one location to another according to the itinerary.

31 for only $1,500; June 1 it will be $1,600. If you are sharing
a room the cost is $1,300 Early Bird and $1,400 June 1. The cost
is $1,300 for an additional participant from the same
organization. Payment in full by Aug. 15 guarantees your
registration. Download
your registration form here.
If you want to give your business additional
exposure, sign
up to become a sponsor. Your business can take advantage of
the proven track record of these trips. All sponsors receive
acknowledgement in the trip itinerary brochure along with
stories about the trip in Chamber publications. For more
information, contact Becky Gordon, vice president of Community
Development at 706-327-1566 or bgordon@columbusgachamber.com.

You can become a Microsoft
"Registered Partner" for free at this link: https://partner.microsoft.com/global/30000104.
According to the website, "The Microsoft Partner
Program delivers more value to support all stages of your
business. We are committed to providing a set of benefits
that fit the needs of each individual solutions partner,
regardless of your organization's business size or focus.
Just as each partner organization is different, so are the
tools required for you to conduct business."
You will receive updates about what is
going on at Microsoft, including seminars in your area.
Seminars are free or very low-cost where you can receive all
kinds of great information and technical support. If there
is a charge, the seminars are usually around $20. They
typically give out loads of free software and, sometimes,
hardware to attendees (i.e. XP Pro, Microsoft Media Player,
Microsoft Office, video/sound cards and occasionally one of
Intel's big daddy's-a P4 3.2Ghz processor). The donations of
software and hardware are often provided by Intel, ATI,
Nvidia and of course all national PC builders, who usually
sponsor these events. Refreshments are provided and the
venue is typically top notch, too. These are a great place
to network and learn new skills.
Sign up with Microsoft and they will send
you all the pertinent information. Explore the other
benefits and tools available through the Microsoft
"Registered Partner" program.
