The Pastoral Institute is a not-for-profit counseling and education center
established in 1974. Believing that wholeness is possible when the body, mind
and spirit work together, our staff of professionals is committed to a holistic
approach to counseling. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides
professional, confidential counseling services to help employees resolve
personal and family problems before they affect personal relationships, job
performance, and health. The program allows for a certain number of visits per
year at no charge. If more counseling is required, additional visits are billed
through medical insurance. If the employee is not covered by insurance, a
sliding scale fee will be assessed for self-pay.

- The city's ancient combined sewers were rebuilt protecting the quality of
the community's most valuable resource, the Chattahoochee River. In the

of local families and as an attraction for visitors.
- A ninety-acre sports complex was developed on the South Commons that has
attracted national and international recognition and brought the Olympics to
Columbus.
- A beautiful new Civic Center was built to replace an old city auditorium.
Since its opening, hundreds of thousands of people have enjoyed events and
activities that were previously impossible to bring to the city.
- Recreational opportunities were enhanced throughout the city with the
construction of four new regional recreation centers and the renovation of
numerous parks.
- More than fifty miles of sidewalks will be constructed to insure the
safety of children walking to school. This is almost double the mileage of
sidewalks promised in the original proposal.
