In our May 24, 2007 article of our Chamber Express Newsletter we hinted towards our upcoming changes.  The first of these changes is to how our members search and are viewed in our online directory.  The article entitled: "Your Chamber is Here for You, 24/7" talked about the ability to change your own member data any time of the day or night.  The ability to change company information is on the horizon.  In the time between then and now please take a moment to become familiar with the new directory.

The basic functionality of the search allows for someone to search for any word in the listing.  The search gives you options for what parts of the listings you want to search, All, Categories, or Names; if you are unsure what it might be listed under then leave "all" selected

Searching using the search field and choosing All, Categories, or Names will return results similar to those below.

This image shows what might happen if you chose to show all members by clicking "search" with the default options selected.

Results can be listed in showing category only formatting by placing a check in the box next to "Show Results":

We will use the Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce as an example:

When searched for the Chamber's results will show as:

This screen shows icons for any applicable options for the company in the result.

By clicking on the name of the company you will see the profile or listing for the company:

The profile for a company will give the information we have been given regarding the company:

• Name
• Address
• The main contact person for the company
• Phone number
• Fax number
• Url (web address) for the company
• Ability to send the contact a message
• Ability to view the location of the company on a map using MapQuest

On occasion you may try to use or be using the directory and a page may show that has this message at the very top:

If you encounter this message try refreshing the page by using the reload/refresh button in your internet browser window.  If you receive this message more than once then please wait a few minutes* for the maintenance to finish.

* The exception to this is on Sundays when a larger degree of maintenance may occur.  When this happens please try back in a few hours.

The search window has a default search available for new members, the link to search using this criteria is located below the normal search boxes:

When searching for new members, results will show in alphabetical order by category then by company name

Also listed below the default search choices is the choice to use an advance search.

Using the advanced search you can search using phone number, address, city, or state.
