A message from our Governmental Affairs Department:
|
The Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber promotes business success by being the
Leader in Economic and Community Development for the Region. That being said,
our Chamber understands the impact that public policy has on this focus, hence
our advocacy on behalf of our business constituency and community. Our Chamber
Board has embraced 1. a vigorous Legislative Agenda for 2008 and
2. a strong policy statement on the concept of a State Water Plan.
We invite you to review the attached documents covering our 2008
Legislative Agenda and also the Chamber Statement on a Proposed
State Water Plan.

Mission
Statement of the Governmental Affairs Department:
|
The
goals of the Governmental Affairs Department of the Greater Columbus
Chamber of Commerce are multi-faceted. The Department seeks
to facilitate the long-term economic viability of Columbus and
its region through cooperative efforts and establishment of common
goals between the private and public sectors by influencing the
legislative and political process on the local, state and federal
levels. This is done in several ways, including constantly
researching and lobbying on behalf of those issues that will affect
business, educating the membership of the Chamber on key issues,
hosting various types of legislative events throughout the year
and participating in the legislative processes of various state
organizations. Moreover, the Governmental Affairs Department
works closely with and lobbies for the Valley Partnership in order
to help them achieve their legislative objectives.
