Public Relations / Management Information Systems

Mission:

The mission of the Public Relations / Management Information Services (PR/MIS) Department is to promote the Chamber while providing technologically advanced products to Chamber members and the community.

Purposes:

The media is informed and invited to cover Chamber related news stories through news conferences, news releases and media memos. Various projects are administered through the PR/MIS Committees, which include the Public Relations (PR) Committee and the Electronic Commerce / Information Technology (ECIT) Committee. The PR/MIS mission is largely accomplished through publications. The increased use of digital photography has greatly enhanced many of the publications. The content of many publications and specific products, i.e., Demographics, is researched to ensure that up-to-date information is provided. In addition to producing the e-mailed Chamber Express, the PR/MIS Dept. edits and distributes the Governmental Issues Update.

Printed publications include the Chamber Membership Directory and promotional flyers. Recent technological tools include the Chamber’s web site and mass faxes. Professional products include a map of the Columbus, GA and Phenix City, AL area and a beautifully illustrated hardcover book about Columbus which is published every few years. Directories that may be purchased as a CD or hardcopy include “Clubs and Organizations,” “Major Employers” and “Manufacturers and Processors.” Advertising is only offered to Chamber Members through the Chamber’s web site or the e-mailed Chamber Express newsletter. New products in the near future include enhanced capabilities on the Chamber’s web site that will provide a secure site for using credit cards to make reservations to Chamber events or to order publications
